Purpose: Considering the university period as one of the most important transition periods in a person's life, investigating the physical activity levels of university students is remarkable in terms of guiding future studies on the development of healthier lifestyle behaviors. This study aimed to determine the level of physical activity in university students and to investigate whether the level of physical activity depends on exercise perception and body awareness. Methods: A total of 113 individuals between the ages of 18-35, who did not have any diseases that prevent physical activity, participated in the study. Demographic and physical characteristics of the participants were recorded on the form created by the evaluators. Individuals' body awareness was evaluated with the Body Awareness Questionnaire (BAQ), physical activity level with the International Physical Activity Questionnaire-Short Form (IPAQ-SF), exercise barrier with the Physical Activity Barriers Scale, and Motivation for Participation in Physical Activity Scale. Results: The average age and body mass index of the participants were 20.92 years and 22.67 kg/m2. According to IPAQ-SF scores, 29.2% of the students were determined as inactive, 62.8% as active, and 8% as sufficiently active. There was a moderate positive correlation between participants' IPAQ-SF and BAQ scores (r=0.427). A moderate negative correlation was found between IPAQ-SF and Physical Activity Barriers score (r= -0.484). A weak negative correlation was found between IPAQ-SF and the Motivation Scale for Participating in Physical Activity (r= -0.133). Additionally, no difference was observed between body awareness score and physical activity level (p>0.05). Conclusion: According to the results of this study, it was found that physical activity level depends on body awareness and perceived exercise barriers. Since increasing body awareness will contribute to the level of physical activity, simple body awareness exercises should also be added to the exercises. In addition, universities should ensure that students participate in physical activity collectively by organizing activities that can be implemented with groups. To increase the level of evidence in our study, studies with more participant groups and students living in different conditions are needed.
